I started playing drums at the age of 13 after I saw KISS in concert at the Forum in Los Angeles. I was instantly mesmerized by Peter Criss and knew that this was what I wanted to do. My first teacher was my Uncle Rob, I began playing to records by Kiss, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio, Journey, Cheap Trick, and Aerosmith. At the age of 18, I attended P.I.T (The percussion division of the Musician’s Institute) in Hollywood, CA.
I graduated with honors in 1989. Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey, Steve Houghton, Chuck Flores, Toss Panos, and Richie (Gajate) Garcia are some of the greats I had the honor of learning from. I followed up with studying Gary Chester’s, The New Breed, concepts with Victor Loyo of Luis Miguel. My education was so important to me that I continued to study with as many people as I could. I began teaching drum lessons at the age of 19 at Ontario Music in Ontario, California. I gratefully landed my first professional touring gig with Michael Sweet, of the band, Stryper. Thus began my career as a touring and session drummer.
I have been an active session player for many years and have had the honor of recording with Michael Sweet (Stryper), Guardian, Zache Brooke, The Brave, John Elefante (Kansas), Venice, Jay Nash, Mindy Gledhill, Michael Jackson, Kyle Vincent, Hillary Duff, Eric Hutchinson, Avion, Steve Bertrand, Drake Bell, G.E.M and currently, Tears for Fears.
I have had the privilege of touring with some of the most talented musicians on earth including, Tears for Fears, Jackson Browne, David Crosby, Tommy Shaw(Styx), Fee Waybil (The Tubes) and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello’s solo project, The Nightwatchman.

I have been playing bass with Martin Fry’s ABC since 2005 and continue to do so, touring worldwide and having recently performed at Hyde Park for the BBC Proms and The Royal Albert Hall with the South Bank Sinfonia. I also continue to tour the UK, Europe and Japan with Belinda Carlisle.
Although the majority of my career has been live work, I have played on many commercial recordings and radio sessions for a number of artists including Bruce Dickinson’s Tattooed Millionaire Album, Jane by Jane Macdonald, The Chris Moyles Parody album recorded at Abbey Road, ABC Traffic, tracks on Matt Backer’s recent albums and the movie soundtrack for Nativity featuring Martin Freeman.

I released a 6 track EP in 2004 which was co-produced by Niagara Falls producer and studio owner “Dean Malton” and a track from that EP, "Radio On" was placed second out of 5,000 entries in Toronto's Mix 99.9 13th annual songwriting competition.
I had met with producer Charlton Pettus, of Tears for Fears, and began recording songs which eventually developed into a full album entitled “Wainwright” and was released in February 2008 on Town Records.
The album featured many other guest musicians including Russ Irwin of Aerosmith, Curt Smith of Tears for Fears and also Fred Eltringham of The Wallflowers and Dixie Chicks, and guest singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno also appeared on the album.
In May 2008 I began the "Guitar and a Car" tour, which toured through both Canada and the United States, and then in October of the same year we went to the United Kingdom to perform.
Through Charlton Pettus, I had established a working relationship with Tears For Fears and in 2009, Curt Smith announced that I would open for the group on most of its 2009 West Coast tour dates. I toured with Tears For Fears as their opening act and backing vocalist for most of their shows, including the 2010 Asia Tour, 2010 East Coast Tour and 2011 West Coast, Mexico and South American Tour.
In September 2011 I released my second album “The Circus Is Coming To Town.” which was again produced by Charlton Pettus. All of the songs were written in collaboration between myself and Charlton with the exception of "Heart-Shaped Man", which was written by Roland Orzabal of Tears For Fears.
I continue to write and record, perform live and guest on many other studio albums.
